Founded in Memphis in 2005, Ewing Kessler is an industry leader in engineered solutions for building systems related to air conditioning, power, and energy management. Our goal is to provide our customers with solutions for all of their HVAC needs. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Manager, Accounting to join our team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and general ledger functions; ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements; maintain and reconcile balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial records.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities; monitor team performance, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a high-performance work environment.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures and internal controls to maintain the integrity of financial records; Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflows.
- Supervise the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries; direct and participate in the preparation of required financial reports; assist with the review and analysis of financial data to identify trends and make recommendations.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve accounting processes; Provide regular reports on accounting activities and key metrics to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting operations, and financial controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable systems, with experience using Great Plains preferred.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to regularly sit for an extended period and occasionally stand and walk for an extended period while in the office.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Schedule - Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM
