Position Overview
As an Agile Product Owner at Excel Medical, you will be the visionary and champion for your product. You will be the central point of contact, bridging the gap between stakeholders, the development team, and the customer. You will own the product backlog, define and prioritize features, and ensure the team is building the right thing, the right way. Your deep understanding of the market, users, and business goals will be instrumental in shaping a compelling and valuable product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vision & Strategy Support: Help define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, working closely with the team to align with our overall business goals.
- Backlog Management: Own, prioritize, and keep our product backlog organized and transparent, making sure it's always ready for our development team.
- User Focus: Dive into understanding what our users need through research, data, and talking to them directly, turning those insights into clear product ideas.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely and communicate effectively with different teams to gather feedback, manage expectations, and ensure alignment.
- Requirement Elicitation: Help translate business needs and user stories into clear, easy-to-understand user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Sprint Planning & Review: Actively participate in sprint planning, helping to clarify what's important and making sure the team understands why we're doing what we're doing. Join in sprint reviews to give feedback and make sure the work meets our standards.
- Decision Making: Make timely and informed decisions about product features, scope, and priorities, balancing what's possible technically with what brings the most value to the business.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze product performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and iterating on the product based on data.
- Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2 years of experience in product management or a related role, with a strong understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
- Product Ownership Fundamentals: Solid experience as a Product Owner or in a role supporting product development, with a track record of contributing to successful software or digital products.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Technical Acumen: A solid understanding of software development processes and technologies. While not necessarily a developer, you should be comfortable discussing technical concepts with the engineering team.
- Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business principles, market dynamics, and financial considerations.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and influence diverse stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- Agile Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent agile certifications are a plus.
- Location: Comfortable working four days a week onsite at our Charlotte, NC headquarters.
