Position Summary
- We are seeking a Maintenance Unit Supervisor for our Rolling Department.
- The Maintenance Unit Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing assigned crew members to achieve business objectives in an ABS (Alcoa Business System) environment.
- Under the Maintenance Superintendent's guidance, this role ensures productivity, safety, quality, and delivery performance through lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Lead safety discussions and conduct job-specific safety reviews.
- Manage subordinates to optimize production quantity, quality, and timeliness.
- Develop employees through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Allocate and assign tasks to crew members, prioritizing work based on business needs.
- Deploy appropriate crewing arrangements for planned and unplanned situations.
- Build a technically capable maintenance workforce that values diversity.
- Utilize root cause analysis to troubleshoot and restore production operations.
- Gather data to drive problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage asset reliability and cost-effective maintenance.
- Advance business goals in quality consistency, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
- Recognize high performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Foster positive interpersonal relationships and resolve sensitive issues.
- Work 12-hour rotating shifts, switching between days and nights every 6-12 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (Visa sponsorship not available).
- Compliance with ITAR regulations, requiring U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical background preferred.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Knowledge of HR policies, labor agreements, and company procedures.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (ABS).
