Your work environment at EXP
EXP’s Transportation and Infrastructure Practice provides comprehensive planning, design and construction engineering services for all types of roadways, bridge, water resource, rail, transit and aviation projects. With a unique multidisciplinary team approach, we have a history of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects. We are currently looking to grow and enhance our construction engineering and inspection (CE I) practice and are seeking an energetic Construction Inspector to work within our Chicago Office. Reporting to the Construction Department Manager, the ideal candidate will focus on delivering infrastructure projects for wide variety of clients throughout northeast Illinois, but with a focus on working within the Chicago Region.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Document all activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
- Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
- Review construction documents and drawings in order to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
- Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
- Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
- Observing general job safety practices.
- Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Possibility of weekend and night work as needed.
What your experience looks like
- B.S. or B.A. degree in an appropriate construction-related, technical, or engineering field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and/or related experience plus four (8) years of experience in construction inspection, two (4) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.
- Preferred experience with IDOT, ISTHA, Chicago DOT, CTA, Metra, Class 1 Railroad construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
