Duration: 12-Month Position

Compensation: $85,000-$100,000

Position Summary: The Director of Operations is a key member of the leadership team responsible for overseeing the school's operational functions to ensure smooth and effective support of academic programs. This role requires strategic planning, leadership, and management of essential services such as finance, facilities, technology, transportation, food services, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership for all operational functions, ensuring efficiency and alignment with the school's mission and goals.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including, budgeting, facilities/grounds, IT, maintenance, custodial services, school safety, transportation, and food services.
- Develop and implement operational systems that support school growth and service delivery.
- Build and manage an effective Operations team, providing supervision and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to school operations.
- Act as a liaison with the Board, school leadership, and external agencies regarding facilities, transportation, food service, safety, and maintenance.
- Support the Executive Director and Executive Cabinet in decision-making and strategic planning.

Facilities & Safety Management

- Develop and monitor the implementation of the school's Facilities Master Plan.
- Oversee maintenance, security, and upkeep of school buildings, ensuring compliance with occupancy regulations.
- Manage school safety plans, emergency preparedness, and regulatory drills.
- Oversee maintenance of closed school buildings, if applicable.

Financial Planning & Budgeting

- Develop and manage the school’s budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure financial sustainability and efficiency.
- Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure the best value for services.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Technology & Data Management

- Oversee IT infrastructure and data reporting, ensuring smooth integration with academic operations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for student and staff data management.
- Manage and maintain information on the NYSED Business Portal, ensuring accurate and timely state reporting.
- Ensure compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements, including student enrollment, attendance, safety, and operational reporting.
- Supervise school communications, including website and social media updates.

Student, Family & Community Engagement

- Manage student enrollment, lottery, and registration processes in accordance with state requirements.
- Support logistics for extracurricular activities and school events.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations to enhance student and family support services.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in school operations, finance, or administration.
- Experience in an urban and/or elementary school setting preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- Knowledge of school compliance regulations, NYSED reporting, budgeting, and facilities management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual (preferred).
