iuvo is the CRO (Contract Research Organization) of choice for hundreds of ophthalmic clinical research projects - from device (implantable, surgical and diagnostic), to biotechnology and pharmaceutical. We have managed hundreds of ophthalmic clinical research projects ranging from single-site studies involving less than 100 subjects followed for one week to large, multi-center projects involving hundreds of subject eyes followed over the course of several years.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Director to join the iuvo team!
The Business Development Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining productive relationships with current and prospective iuvo customers to drive profitable sales growth in the clinical business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, lead, and close iuvo client opportunities throughout the entire sales lifecycle
- Create and execute unique sales strategies targeting our diverse set of clients
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and practice leaders to help further sales strategy, lead our business development pursuits, and develop account plans
- Win proposals independently with support from the operational team and Executive Committee
- Establish new clients for iuvo and support the growth of existing accounts
- Perform market research and analyze financial data to identify and structure new business relationships.
- Drive negotiations, engaging input from relevant Company areas to facilitate completion of agreements.
- Maintain regular communication with the CEO and the commercial team to keep them abreast of issues and opportunities that are affecting sales and pipeline development.
- Engage with key opinion leaders at conferences, trade events, and other industry specific engagements.
- Represent Voice of Customer during strategic planning and annual sales / marketing planning to support primary goal of increasing sales.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field; Minimum 5 years effective business development experience in selling and developing clinical business; ophthalmic experience preferred, other related / relevant experience will be considered.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Good computer skills, including experience with word processing, Excel and other spreadsheet programs, Microsoft Outlook or equivalent, CRM experience required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Expert ability to read and interpret documents and reports. Must have excellent proofreading, spelling, grammar and writing skills. Must have the ability to speak effectively before senior management, groups of customers and employees of the organization. Able to customize communication style and approach depending on audience (scientist vs. procurement vs. executive) to develop the business Must have well-developed interpersonal communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform the valuation calculations used in analyzing business opportunities.
MANAGERIAL SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to lead a team to include selection, onboarding, training, goal setting, coaching, performance monitoring, development, and discipline of direct reports. Leading / building a team is not the core responsibility of this role but may become a key part of this role in the future.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to sell and develop a services business in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industries. Strong analytical skills, proven track record as a strong negotiator, experience in strategic planning.
