What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Mapping Intern - Summer Internship position at Explorer Pipeline?
We are looking for a summer GIS Mapping intern who will work out of our Tulsa, OK office Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Successful candidates will be enrolled in an accredited college, technical school, or university and will have completed their Junior year by this summer.
The GIS Mapping Intern focus will be on the following activities:
- Goals
- Understand how Explorer receives and processes GIS data for internal use.
- Survey data – from inspectors, ROW Techs, vendors, or outside work (i.e. easement releases)
- Foreign line crossings
- Integrity data from handhelds
- Relocation drawings, Plats, Exhibits, Weld Maps, Historical documents
- Understand how our Dept. is used to support the company thru
- Alignment sheets
- Enterprise Asset database
- Project Files
- Working with Legal and Right of Way on easement releases
- Project Engineering
- Prelim planning.
- Validating data.
- Integrity and dig maps
- Task to complete
- Process integrity Data using ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR).
- Work on requested Maps i.e. Dig Maps, Easement Release.
- Produce an alignment sheet with Sheet Cutter.
- Publish mobile map packages to Explorer’s Enterprise Portal.
- Populate address data for Cathodic Protection locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful intern candidate will have:
- completed their college Junior year by this summer
- self-motivated
- a high level of verbal and written communication skills
- focus on time and resource management
- solid computer skills in ArcGIS Pro
- outstanding project execution capability
- must have own housing accommodation in the Tulsa or surrounding area
