Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and hardworking Industrial Painter who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty. This role involves preparing, priming, sanding, sealing, patching, and painting steel materials using various types of paints and finishes.

Compensation : $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Schedule : Monday – Friday (40 - 60 hours per week)

6 : 00 AM – 3 : 00 PM
8 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM

Responsibilities

Prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, and paint flat and round steel plate materials, including both structural and non-structural parts, using various painting materials such as enamels, epoxies, polyesters, red oxides, potable water, jet fuel, and heat-resistant finishes.

Tape, strip, and repair paint coatings to ensure a high-quality finished product.

Maintain and repair airless and air-assisted painting equipment as needed.

Follow application guidelines to properly mix, apply, and clean equipment after each use.

Perform work primarily under a roof, with some fieldwork possible.

Record and verify inventory usage.

Mark and sort cut pieces according to drawings when necessary.

Keep paint inventory neat and organized for easy counting and future use.

Wear proper safety equipment at all times.

Perform necessary preventative maintenance on production equipment.

Qualifications

1 years of related experience and / or training in painting application specifics.

Ability to operate an overhead crane within OSHA safety guidelines.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Must be able to read and understand blueprints required for paint application.

Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions.

Must be able to read and understand painting specifications and paint manufacturers’ guidelines.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to work and paint in tight, confined spaces when necessary, and use safety equipment properly.

Knowledge of erecting scaffolding, rigging, and ladders in a manner consistent with safety codes.

Must be able to fill out records that include temperature of the atmosphere, metal substrate, blast profile, humidity, and paint thickness readings after each application.

Must be able to lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.

Must be able to learn how to operate other production machinery and be willing to cross-train.
