What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at ExtendMyTeam?
Our client is looking for an HR Generalist to join the team. You will be responsible for managing all human resources functions within multiple locations. This includes payroll and benefits, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance with labor laws. You will also be responsible for implementing HR policies and procedures. You will work closely with the general managers to ensure a positive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR, with specific experience in the retail, hospitality, or restaurant industry. You should be a strong communicator, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Onboarding
- Managing the employee journey from hiring to exiting
- End-to-end responsibility for setup of all new hires including management of background checks, benefits, and verification of employee eligibility.
- Gathering and preparing all required paperwork and documentation
- Verifying new hire data in HRIS/payroll system and ensuring setup across all systems
- Overseeing employee onboarding and all welcome materials
- Overseeing training both company and role-specific
Payroll Benefits
- Processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll
- Managing payroll taxes and state compliance
- Maintaining all benefit information related to medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, 401k, etc.
- Leading annual open enrollment process and assisting with enrolling eligible employees
- Preparing communications strategy for open enrollment
- Acting as point of contact between the benefit brokers and the company
- Processing time-off requests such as holidays, sick leave, vacation, emergencies, and parental leave according to the policies, guidelines, and rules
Compliance
- Managing all worker's comp matters
- Promptly completing various audits and reports
- Ensuring legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state requirements for multiple states
- Reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, and professional licensure
- Managing contractor/temporary staff process
- Maintain detailed records of timelines for new and necessary renewals for permits, insurance, and other necessary documentation for the business
Recruiting
- Identify with the operations / store managers the needs of recruitment for ongoing operations as well as new store openings
- Publish advertisements and do the pre-selection of profiles
- Screen candidates to ensure they are a match for the role they are applying to
- Managing the interview process
- Write/adapt job descriptions
- Develop relationship with schools, fairs according to the positions to be recruited and necessary to ensure a pipeline of employees
Employee Relations
- Resolve complex employee relations issues and address grievances
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Drive the disciplinary procedure and redundancy situations
- Consult with line management and provide daily HR guidance
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
- Previous experience in HR within retail, hospitality, or restaurant industry
- ADP experience is a must
- Payroll and benefits processing experience for EE of 100
- Experience managing payroll in various states is a plus
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Additional Essential Requirements
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the needs of the business
- Must be able to work onsite at all times.
- Must have valid US work authorization.
