CNC Machining Production Supervisor Position Summary:
The CNC Machining Production Supervisor will work to develop and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, standard work instructions, and process improvements. This role will motivate, monitor and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance, gage workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary. This role will be responsible for management and expansion of HVC’s automated machining program.
Also assist with reading and interpreting technical blueprints and CNC programs, input of design specifications to optimize fixturing of components, adjusting of programming speed, feed, and tooling paths, as well as supporting design and selection of specific tooling and fixturing.
You may also be required to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, direct and supervise a group of 15 union machine operators.
- Work closely with the CNC Programming Team
- Collaborate on the creation of CNC programs to manufacture parts that meet engineering blueprint.
- Oversight and design work of holding fixtures for use in machining department across multiple assets.
- Provide input and adjustments to current programming by adjusting speed, feed, and tool paths.
- Order and receive tools and fixtures, parts and supplies, as well as locate lost or misplaced tools, parts and supplies.
- Ensure tool room and fixture storage is organized, clearly labeled, and follows WPO (Work Place Order).
- Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control of all fixturing and tooling products within the department and the transition of all information related to fixturing/tooling into the ERP system.
- Work hand in hand with engineering to provide changes to casting shapes, designs, and features in order to better work hold parts.
- Drive lean principles to improve the operational processes within the machining department.
- Develop and drive the culture of automated machining across other platforms in the CNC department, including creation of schedule and ensuring that all fixtures, tools, and programs are in place to achieve
- Aid in the planning and execution of the production schedule to meet production requirements.
- Work jointly with Process/Manufacturing engineers to determine what products stay in house vs. products that are to be sent outside for machining.
- Provide detailed key performance indicators and hold weekly team reviews to drive cross functional goals set forth by Hunt and our corporate leadership.
- Ensure a safe environment for employees through adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, improving housekeeping standards, conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective action.
- Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control of all WIP and FGI product within the department and minimizing inventory held through efficient planning and achievement of lower lead times
- Develop and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, Standard Work Instructions, and process improvements.
- Motivate, monitor and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance. Gage workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary.
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing-related field is highly preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Word and Excel; experience with an ERP system is preferred.
- Very good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Experience with large CNC machine equipment or heavy manufacturing process is beneficial.
- 5 years minimum experience and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience managing and supervising in a union-represented environment is helpful.
- Knowledge of welding, heavy manufacturing machining, assembly processes and lean manufacturing methodology is a plus.
