What are the responsibilities and job description for the MHA/MBA Strategy Intern position at Fairview Health Services?
The Strategy Planning and Market Research Internship is a 10–12-week immersive project-based experience for high-potential individuals completing a master’s degree in a healthcare management program or within a healthcare related master’s program.
This internship will support senior executives and the internship program preceptor with key operational and strategic work across the Fairview system. This opportunity offers the ability to work directly with senior executives to implement key organizational strategies.
This Internship within the strategy function offers an opportunity to work closely with a System Director and other leaders in solving strategic challenges in the management of analysis and planning. The assigned project for the Internship will focus on analysis of market opportunities and consumer insights to support strategy, growth, and innovation. It also provides the opportunity for networking and professional development.
The intern will play a key role in supporting the preceptor and other project owners/stakeholders with work primarily focused on enterprise strategy and planning.
Key activities may include:
· Building project plans
· Presenting project updates
· Building communication plans, drafting communications
· Completing stakeholder interviews
· Data collection and analysis
· Taking notes, drafting agendas, sending follow ups, general meeting preparation
· Researching best practices and presenting findings
· Leading / facilitating discussions
· Basic data entry or word processing
· Effective verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrates excellent listening skills
· Develops collaborative working relationships with interdisciplinary team members and interacts effectively with all project stakeholders.
· Ability to receive and give feedback
· Proficient with data entry and maintains high accuracy under tight timelines.
· Analyze data and make recommendations to achieve or exceed expected outcomes while producing and distributing work products in a timely manner.
· Ability to problem solve, perform service recovery, and organize daily tasks to optimize productivity.
· Collaborates with interdepartmental leadership or third-party subject matter experts.
· Ability to adopt a learning mindset with a keen focus on development opportunities.
· Follows AIDET communication framework consistently.
· Fulfills all organizational requirements
· Completes all required learning relevant to the role

Required
Education
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
· In-progress with a master’s degree with an emphasis on healthcare (MPH, MHA, MHSA, MBA) or a related field
Experience
· Excellent writing skills, computer skills, strong interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to complete projects accurately and on time.
· Knowledge or experience within healthcare and/or healthcare administration

This position provides one flat hourly rate, with regular reviews to ensure competitiveness with the market.
