    Position Title: Teacher

    Employment Terms:189 Days per year

    Qualifications:
    • Meets all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of New Hampshire
    • The minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    • A valid New Hampshire Teacher Certificate OR statement of eligibility
    • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
    • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program

    Reports to: Building Principal

    Supervises:
    Classroom and Special Education Paraprofessionals assigned to his/her room

    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Teachers Association, Inc.

    Job Goals:
    The Academic Interventionist is responsible for providing high-level learning experiences and support to struggling students and fostering their ability to master academic skills appropriate to age, grade level and individual potential.
    Performance Responsibilities:

    1. Instructional Program
    • Academic interventionist promotes and develops successful instruction in all content areas for students who are struggling and in need of services
    • Responsible for group and individual instruction for students needing intervention
    • Supervises and develops lessons for Para professionals
    • Assess and tracks student progress by implementing a variety of assessment instruments
    • Promotes a high level of achievement for all students
    • Uses techniques and methodologies appropriate for student ability level
    • Identifies and documents instruction using learning objectives with clear understanding of student outcomes.
    • Completes quarterly progress reports to parents
    • Completes daily log of activities
    • Incorporate the New Hampshire Frameworks and Grade Level Expectations into daily and long term planning.
    • Plan for children with different learning styles and abilities
    • Utilize data from standardized and teacher made assessments to drive instruction
    • Exhibit a deep and accurate understanding of subject area knowledge
    • Utilize research based teaching strategies
    • Work collaboratively with specialists and colleagues to plan effective instruction for all children
    • Clearly communicate the learning objective and the importance of the learning to all students
    • Prepare plans for substitute teachers
    • Implement prescribed instructional programs
    • Communicate with parents/guardians of all students as necessary
    • Work to improve student performance and supports the district goal of improving standardized testing results by 5-7 percentage points each year
    • Integrate technology into the curriculum for all students
    • Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for academic, artistic, athletic, and social growth.
    • Make knowledge accessible to all students
    • Develop students’ cognitive capacity and respect for learning
    • Foster students’ academic, artistic, athletic and social skills



    2. Classroom Management
    • Provide for adequate protection of students
    • Maintain appropriate student records
    • Administer testing situations according to state and local guidelines
    • Engage parents to assist in discipline
    • Teach effectively and with professional demeanor
    • set high expectations for students
    • praise academic achievement
    • use clarity of explanation and presentation
    • supervise group work effectively

    3. Interaction
    • Maintain an atmosphere where students feel free to participate
    • Create an atmosphere of mutual respect
    • Build students’ self-esteem and confidence
    • Sets an appropriate example for students in personal hygiene and appearance
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching

    4. School Organization
    • Assume responsibility for carrying out school/district rules and regulations
    • Serve on at least one committee every three years
    • Make positive suggestions for school improvement
    • Complete paperwork and student records accurately and on time

    5. Professional
    • Act on constructive criticism to improve professionally
    • Participate in professional development activities
    • Attendance is regular and consistent
