Responsible for the planning and implementation of prevention programs and initiatives directed to address suicide, prevent substance misuse and promote mental health. Works with youth and family serving tribal programs, agencies and schools to promote positive lifestyles, reduce suicide attempts and completions, and eliminate drug use and other risk factors that lead to unhealthy behaviors.
- Assist to identify community needs and develop plan for the education and prevention of suicide, substance misuse and dependency, and mental health.
- Assist to determine the level of readiness for implementing prevention strategies, activities and events.
- Participate in the development of a Strategic Action Plan to address universal, selective and indicated prevention strategies to address suicide prevention and substance misuse.
- Utilize cultural and evidenced-based education, prevention, early intervention, and referral techniques to meet community needs.
- Refer youth and their parents/legal guardians and young adults to mental health services if needed.
- Coordinate to provide outreach, training and events that provides suicide prevention events/activities and promotes mental wellness and drug/alcohol free lifestyles.
- Collect and compile data for the evaluation of prevention activities and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in health and/or human services or related field; background in the field of behavioral health, prevention or related programming
- Minimum Qualifications: A high school, GED or equivalent and two or more years’ experience conducting prevention activities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.38 - $23.14 per hour
