About Us

Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.

FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.

Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).

About the Job

The Clinician is responsible for the planning of assigned tasks, organizing, and implementation and evaluation of treatment components and activities of assigned programs. The Clinician will provide therapeutic services to our youth clientele in our Residential Treatment Center, Outpatient programs, or school programs.

Responsibilities:

1. With the Assistant Clinical Director, responsible for creating and maintaining milieu treatment activities.

2. Provide individual and group counseling to clients.

3. Provide family counseling and/or training.

4. Provide expert witness regarding clients in court.

5. Provide crisis intervention as needed.

6. Participate in special activities for client outings.

7. On-call, on-rotation status.

8. Coordinate with local and state agencies relative to the clients’ milieu program.

9. Coordinate with the staff relative to the clients’ individual service plans.

10. Provide consultation and coordination with personnel from State and Local agencies and other community professionals.

11. Attend child study team meetings, placement meetings, and administrative meetings.

12. Responsible for Individual Treatment Plans; including development, implementation, evaluation, and quarterly review.

13. Complete state admission and discharge forms.

14. Keep current counseling notes.

15. Write treatment plans and discharge summaries.

16. Attend management, administrative and preadmission assessment meetings.

17. Provides a minimum 23 hours of documented rehabilitation services for FCSA children and families.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree, from an accredited university, in social work, psychology, or counseling, or a closely related field.

2. Clinician II must hold active LMSW licensure in the state of Alaska, or be able to become licensed within 90 days of employment.

3. Clinician III candidates must hold active LPC or LCSW licensure in the state of Alaska, or be able to become licensed within 90 days of employment.

4. Prefer two years’ experience in providing direct services to adolescents, program development, ISP development and implementation, and programmatic staff supervision.

5. Able to work as a part of a treatment team.

6. Physical ability to employ verbal and physical aggression control techniques after being certified.

7. Knowledge of Alaskan childcare laws and juvenile justice laws.

8. Current Alaska driver’s license, driving record and vehicle insurance.

9. Potential employees must undergo a fingerprint check which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions which, in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely with children.

10. Current First aid and CPR certificate.

This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,005.00 - $96,000.00 per year
