What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training and Coaching Specialist position at Family Enrichment Network, Inc.?
The Training and Coaching Specialist is responsible for developing and providing professional development training opportunities for early childhood education and child care programs throughout the region, primarily Broome, Chenango, and Tioga Counties. Onsite coaching and assistance will be provided to meet individual program quality improvement plan. Position may require evenings and occasional weekends. Job requires traveling within area served by the program.
Minimum Qualifications: BA Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with knowledge of child development and child care regulations and two years experience as an adult educator. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary. Job requires traveling within area served by the program. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education with knowledge of child care regulations and experience as an adult educator. New York State Early Learning Training Credential, Training and Technical Assistance Professional Credential and Coaching Credential preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary.
Essential Duties:
- Develops and creates curriculum and delivers training opportunities for early childhood professionals to meet QUALITYstarsNY Quality Improvement Plan.
- Works collaboratively with QUALITYstarsNY Regional Coordinator and Quality Improvement Specialists to meet individual program needs.
- Conducts onsite coaching and assistance to meet program needs.
- Completes NY AEYC Training and Technical Assistance Professional Credential for Training and Coaching within 4 months.
- Understands adult learning theory and best practices for delivering professional development.
- Follows all training approval policies for ASPIRE and EIP.
- Maintains accurate training records, including attendance. Enters all information in Empire State Child Care Match Training Database and ASPIRE.
- Processes all required paperwork for training and coaching invoicing.
- Attends all Train-The-Trainer opportunities to increase portfolio of approved trainings.
- Travels to programs within the service delivery area, primarily Broome, Chenango, and Tioga Counties, but could be requested to travel to other areas of the state.
- Refers programs to other services within the Agency as identified needs arise.
- Keeps abreast of changes and best practice research in the field of child care.
- Contributes to the quarterly CCRC newsletter to programs.
- Contributes to the quarterly CCRC Training and Professional Development Calendar as needed.
- Promotes CCRC services to the public.
- Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the NYS Child Care regulations
- Attends out-of-town meetings called by the funding source and relays information to the team.
- Attends monthly CCRC staff meeting and any required Agency events.
- Prepares reports, program summaries, success stories, and required narratives. Actively plans and organizes material for grant submission.
