Job Title: Fatherhood Outreach Worker (Part-time, Bilingual English/Spanish)

The Fatherhood Outreach Worker (Part-time, Bilingual) provides supportive case management services to fathers in the greater Belmont Cragin/Hermosa community, as part of the Strong Fathers Strong Families program. This program works together to strengthen and support low-income, minority fathers by helping them to strengthen their relationships with their children, families and communities. The Strong Fathers Strong Families program will provide services directly to fathers, collaborate with early childhood programs, in particular the doulas, to improve their ability to include fathers in services to families and inform and advocate for policy decisions that directly impact fathers and their families.
In addition to providing case management services, the Father Outreach Worker will facilitate fathers’ skills-based and support groups, as well as plan father-child enrichment activities in the community. The Father Outreach Worker provides ongoing support to fathers and through the utilization of needs assessments and individual family support plans. The Father Outreach Worker coordinates with local referral partners to ensure the needs of each participant is fully met.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate weekly and/or bi-weekly group parenting classes using a specialized curriculum designed for the unique experiences of Fathers
- Provide one-on-one coaching tailored support to address individual fathers' specific needs, challenges, and goals.
- Provide practical support of case management and referrals for other services like job training, housing, or legal aid. Provide practical support, hands-on assistance and immediate resources that fathers need to fulfill their roles effectively, focusing on direct and tangible benefits.
- Plan father-child activities, such as field trips, multi-generational group activities, and father-child events
- Provide supplemental services, offering additional support that enhances the overall well-being of fathers and their families, contributing to long-term stability and personal growth.
- Provide peer mentoring connecting fathers with experienced mentors who provide guidance, support, and encouragement.
- Collaborate with trained doulas to provide prenatal and postnatal education to provide fathers with education on pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care, helping them to understand their partner’s experiences and how they can support them.
- Two years experience working in a strength-based environment with fathers and families.
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Knowledge and skills in working with families in crisis or trauma exposed situations.
- Group facilitation expertise
- Competency in understanding and working with diverse cultures and populations
- Work related travel required so applicant will need access to reliable transportation
- Understands the developmental stages and needs of children
- Basic computer skills – word processing, email, internet research, on-line timesheet
