We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Family Office Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of a high-net-worth family office. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle the complexities of managing multi-entity financial structures. This role involves managing day-to-day financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing detailed financial reports, and supporting the family with personalized financial planning and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee and manage accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management across all family entities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for the family and related entities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and implement robust internal controls to safeguard family assets.
- Manage the consolidation of financial results across trusts, partnerships, investments, and operating businesses.
Tax Planning & Compliance
- Collaborate with external tax advisors to prepare and file tax returns for individuals, trusts, foundations, and corporate entities.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Provide tax planning insights and strategies to optimize the family’s financial outcomes.
Investment Oversight & Reporting
- Track and report on the performance of the family’s investment portfolio, including real estate, private equity, and marketable securities.
- Liaise with investment advisors, fund managers, and other external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the family’s financial goals.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts to support liquidity planning and funding for investments and operational needs.
Family Support & Advisory
- Provide customized financial reports to family members, including budgets, forecasts, and net worth statements.
- Assist in managing the financial aspects of philanthropic activities, including private foundations and charitable giving.
- Support estate planning initiatives in collaboration with legal and tax advisors.
Operational Management
- Manage relationships with external service providers, including bankers, attorneys, and insurance brokers.
- Oversee financial operations related to personal expenses, household staff payroll, and family-owned properties.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for family office operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CFA designation preferred.
- 8 years of accounting or financial management experience, ideally with experience in family office, private wealth management, or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of tax planning, trust accounting, and multi-entity financial management.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with [specific tools, e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite] preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Salary : $150,000 - $250,000
