Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. 2 evenings a month will be required at minimum (scheduled in advance) plus occasional nights and weekends for events and volunteer opportunities.

Pay: Hourly Rate, 40 hours a week. $20-$28 an hour depending on experience.

Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a crucial role in engaging the community with our organization. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills to manage various projects and ensure the smooth functioning of volunteer opportunities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic environment.

Family Promise Rochester helps homeless and low-income families in the Rochester, Minnesota area achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Tasks may include execution of various initiatives including marketing campaigns, planning volunteer and community outreach programs plus providing support for the families' needs (such as transportation). Direct actions that improve efficiency and reduce cost across the organization will be required as needed. This role provides leadership to the direct support staff of the non-profit, participants, volunteers, funders, services providers, and the community stakeholders to fulfil the mission and vision of the organization.

This is a full-time position with hours from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday plus two recurring evenings per month. There will be occasional weeknight and weekend events and volunteer opportunities that will be required. This position includes paid holidays, sick time, and PTO.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Management (.5 FTE)
  • Recruit volunteers through local media, web, social media, and outreach
  • Maintain volunteer service descriptions for each volunteer assignment
  • Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operations
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
  • Maintain open communication with the volunteer committee about new volunteer opportunities and recruitment
  • Work with the Public Relations committee to publicize opportunities for volunteers
  • Host and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified candidates
  • Track volunteers and their hours for grant reporting
  • Social media and website (.2 FTE)
  • Edit and update promotional material, website, and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts, etc.)
  • Brainstorming and implementing event and fundraising plans and concepts
  • Assist with writing and posting about events and third-party campaigns on social media platforms
  • Manage the creation and design direction of event-specific communication pieces
  • Donation management (.1 FTE)
  • Connect with organizations, churches and businesses on doing donation drives.
  • Keep track of what donations are needed and update spreadsheets and flyers.
  • Family Services (.1 FTE)
  • Attend Life Skills classes the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:45pm and find volunteers as needed for these classes
  • Any additional tasks as given by the Executive Director or Program Director which would assist families–such as rides to appointments, food banks, etc.
  • Program Leadership (.1 FTE)
  • Represent Family Promise Rochester at volunteer events, churches, and other community events.
  • Plan and present a program update to the ED which will then be reported at monthly Board meetings and work with Board committees as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative or operational role.
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in an office suite for documents, spreadsheets, presentations and email (such as Microsoft or Google); experience with volunteer management software is a plus, such as Bloomerang or Salesforce; experience with graphic design and web design.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems, analyze options, and implement effective solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build positive relationships.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
  • In Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act the following represents the Physical/Environmental demands: In this position a majority of the time is spent sitting as well as walking, lifting and standing. The weight of objects to be lifted, carried, pushed or pulled will range from (0) to (50) pounds. Stair climbing is often necessary. Movements such as stooping and bending may be required: possibly kneeling, crouching, twisting and reaching. Simultaneous use of hand, wrist and fingers are required as well as repetitive movements of both hands. Audio, visual and verbal functions are vital aspects of this position. The majority of the work day is spent indoors with exposure to noise and glare/improper illumination and possibly heights. Consistent attendance is an essential function of this job.
