Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or Independent Living Certification
- Familiarity with the Full Case Management System as well as with the Child Welfare Dependency System in Miami Dade County, preferred.
- Familiarity with Child Welfare and Child Welfare related computer programs, preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with at risk youth.
$21.50-$23.50 hourly

- Ensure adherence to all Pre- Independent Living, Independent Living, and Life Skills requirements, pursuant to FL statute, DCF, Lead Agency and Family Resource Center Policy, and Lead Agency contract.
- Ensure that program referrals are made in a timely manner for all youth in Family Resource Center’s Child Welfare Programs.
- Ensure that pre- IL and/or life skills assessments are completed and scored in a timely manner for each youth on their case load as required by law.
- Ensure completion of Life Skills Annual Plan
- Arrange and participate (when necessary) in all required staffing as described by the current law for each youth assigned. (At ages 13, 14, 15, 15 ½, 16, 16 ½, 17, 17 ½, 17 ¾ )
- Ensure completion of the staffing and reports for submission to the Court. Copies of such reports shall be provided to Case Managers, Supervisors and POA’s, youth, and a copy uploaded to FSFN.
- Ensure the completion of the 16 ½ year old staffing and the Youth Transitional Plan and provide to the Case Manager for submission to Court.
- Coordinate Independent Living Life Skills classes to youth ages 15 to 18.
- Assist with individualized skills instruction as deemed necessary.
- Ensure the documentation and successful completion of life skills modules and provide such documentation to Case Managers.
- Escort youth on educational field trips, vocational trips and conferences when necessary.
- Maintain IL Tracker.
- Provide the youth with training in the areas of self-esteem, employability skills, personal skills and social skills.
- Provide the youth with assistance in the following areas under the category of personal skills: self esteem, conflict resolution, anger management, teen dating violence and any other pertinent subject/s.
- Provide the youth with assistance in the following areas under the category of social skills: personal appearance, health, educational planning, interpersonal skills, money management, emergency and safety skills, housing, housekeeping, community resources, transportation, job seeking skills and legal skills.
- Provide the youth with personal financial management information including but not limited to: establishing credit, financing a car, interest rates, how to handle money, how to obtain insurance, consumer laws, understanding fraud, opening a bank account, getting consumer help, etc.
- Provide the youth with assistance in the following areas under the category of employability skills: earning money now, first weeks of work, how to get and hold a job, the interview and self concept and work.
- Provide the youth with an accepted curriculum such as Philip Roy, Daniel Memorial or any other accepted curriculum. Said curriculum and testing procedure is to contain pre and post testing criteria.
- Records in an organized and legible manner all documentation and records necessary to supplement the youth’s case file.
- Prepares documentation to demonstrate to the agency and the Court all efforts made to provide the youth with appropriate and useful Life Skills training.
- Prepares all necessary documentation for presentation to the Court at any Judicial Review, Independent Living Hearing or Status Report.
- Works closely and cooperatively with Case Managers and other FCM staff in the preparation of the youth for adulthood and the submission of all proper documentation as required by law.
- Timely completes all assignments as requested by the Case Managers, FCM staff and/or administrators.
- Participates in the agency’s Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program
- Contributes to the understanding and acceptance of cultural diversity within the agency and the community;
- Complies with all relevant JCAHO standards and regulations.
- Utilizes the agency’s resources in a fiscally conservative manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
