24.5 hours weekly to be determined by employee and supervisor.
SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a part-time salaried Bilingual Counselor for the Family Place Library. The Family Place Library provides library patrons with social and emotional needs, case management, short term counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to mental health clinics and other community-based programs. The Bilingual Counselor will spend time in the Northport Library, Huntington Library, South Huntington, and Harborfields Libraries.

RESPONSIBILITES
- The Counselor will conduct intakes and assessments of individuals and families.
- Provide individual and family counseling.
- Co-facilitate library groups.
- Assist in linking eligible clients with public benefits and assist clients with applying.
- The Counselor will provide linkage to more intensive mental health services.
- Provide referrals to higher levels of care.
- The Counselor will provide crisis intervention, when needed.
- Document client contacts accurately and timely.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy required.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience required.
Minimum of 1 year of prior experience working with individuals with mental illness and their families required.
Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral processing required.
Must be able to perform suicide risk assessments and provide short term counseling.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required.
Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills required.
Bilingual in Spanish required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires sitting for long periods of time.
