POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Overnight Camp Counselors at Camp Lakeside create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while completing the daily operations of supervising and interacting with campers while camp is in session. Overnight Camp Counselors for Camp Lakeside perform duties according to all state, federal, and YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for maintaining supervision, safety, and care for campers during the day and at night. (9 overnight campers).
- Supervise campers during meals.
- Guide and teach a range of outdoor activities (low ropes, swimming, archery, kayaking, group games, rock wall climbing, pamper pole, etc.).
- Positive role model to campers in all aspects of life
- Maintains engaging interaction with campers with group games and programming activities.
- Keep a consistent head count and adhere to the daily schedule
- 6 days/ 5 night
- Boarding, laundry, and meals are provided.
- Performs all other duties as assigned such as camp cleaning/serving line.
