Feed Mill Operations

Position Responsibilities

The feed mill operations responsibilities involve operations, sales and service, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management.

The feed mill lead man will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.

Operations

Operations involves the efficient operation of the feed mill and warehouse.

1. Organize daily schedule of required local mix to expedite custom mixing and grinding

2. Make deliveries and pick-ups in an efficient, economical manner.

3. Maintain equipment on a regular schedule to avoid breakdowns and anticipate and plan for major overhauls requiring shut-downs

4. Maintain quality of mixes above standards set by Land O’ Lakes and the local mix program

5. Take ingredient, local mix, and customer mix samples and retain them for future reference

6. Account for each mix or other service provided by writing job, sales, or transfer tickets to ensure accurate inventory control

7. Report inventory items which should be placed on order

8. Prepare and file department records as needed

9. Attend product training, merchandising, and cooperative meetings as requested

10. Sell feeding programs and other products and services

Sales and Service

Service involves providing customer service that will result in greater sales.

1. Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and a hello, and thank them for their business

2. Assist customers with unloading and loading

3. Promptly and courteously answer the phone

4. Work with customers to resolve problems and report complaints to your supervisor

5. Suggest other items for purchase, when appropriate

6. Actively work to increase personal skills and knowledge

7. Attend product, merchandising, and cooperative meetings as requested

8. Bill accurately and clearly communicate details of delivery

9. Wear a clean uniform and be neat

10. Lose no customers due to the quality of service provided by the department

Safety and Maintenance

Safety and maintenance involves following safety regulations and maintaining equipment and facilities.

1. Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations

2. Maintain a clean and neat grinding and mixing room

3. Maintain mill and warehouse equipment and facilities regularly

4. Maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards in feed mill

5. Maintains the delivery vehicle properly

Job Knowledge

The feed mill lead will fully understand the requirements of the job

Quality of Work

The feed mill lead will consistently perform at a minimum the amount of satisfactory work output

Cooperates with co-workers to safely, effectively and accurately get the daily work done

Initiative

Expected to begin assignments without direction & recognize the best way of accomplishing tasks.

Attendance and Punctuality

Expected to be relied upon to report to work as expected and stay on the job

The feed mill lead will handle on the job problems in a professional, courteous and expeditious manner.

Other Duties

The feed mill lead will uphold cooperative policies, perform other duties as assigned by management, and will enforce and uphold the cooperative’s credit policy.

1. Uphold all cooperative policies

2. Perform duties as requested by management

3. Enforce and uphold the cooperative’s credit policy

4. Do not authorize customer charges that exceed set credit limits

5. Keep all personal accounts current

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
