About this position:

Starting Wage: $19.00 - $25.00, depending on experience
Farwest Steel’s Operations Department seeks a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join their team as Production Planner I. The Production Scheduler coordinates and manages the flow of work between departments in a manufacturing environment to ensure timely and efficient production. This role reviews the master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities based on customer requirements, and adjusts plans in response to workforce availability, material supply, equipment status, and production capacity.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Evaluate and communicate rush order capabilities across operations, sales, purchasing, shipping, and programming to ensure alignment and responsiveness.
- Maintain and update customer inventory calculators; analyze and recommend adjustments to support accurate inventory management.
- Serve as a key liaison between sales, operations, shipping, and programming to facilitate effective communication and improve overall customer service.
- Coordinate and support contract review processes for special projects; collect, compile, and distribute necessary information to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with department supervisors to monitor production progress and incorporate changes from methods or programming teams.
- Manage and optimize the Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) calculator to maximize production efficiency and minimize late deliveries.
- Analyze operations workload and identify opportunities for sales growth or production improvements.
- Monitor delivery performance KPIs, conduct root cause analysis, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Lead weekly performance review meetings to present findings and align cross-functional teams on next steps.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient in performing mathematical calculations relevant to production planning.
- Skilled in using modern office tools, including telephone and computer systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data analysis tools and reporting platforms.
