The Senior Workers Compensation Manager (SWCM) will oversee the workers compensation program in a high-volume setting, focusing on efficient claims management, collaborating with third-party administrators (TPA), implementing cost-control initiatives, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Responsibilities
- Manage the full workers; compensation claims process, ensuring timely reporting,
- investigation, and resolution in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with third-party administrators (TPA) to ensure effective claim
- management, settlement negotiations, and resolution within company guidelines.
- Develop and implement cost-saving strategies to reduce workers; compensation
- expenses, including evaluating claims data and identifying risk mitigation
- opportunities.
- Analyze claims trends and data to proactively address emerging risks, minimize claim
- frequency, and control financial exposure.
- Ensure compliance with DOL, OSHA, and EEOC regulations, keeping the program
- aligned with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Design and implement return-to-work programs, working with HR and safety teams to
- facilitate smooth employee reintegration.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, negotiate contracts, monitor
- performance, and ensure cost effective service delivery.
- Oversee workers' compensation budget, track expenses, and provide forecasting and
- reporting to senior leadership for cost management.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to management on claims
- management, compliance, and best practices.
- Develop training programs for employees and managers on workers; compensation
- policies, injury prevention, and reporting.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance workers; compensation processes, leveraging
- technology to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Advise leadership on workers; compensation risks, industry trends, and opportunities
- for program optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, occupational health and safety or
- related field preferred
- 15 years of experience in workers; compensation claims management, preferably in a
- high-volume environment
- Proven track record of handling claims, cost containment, and collaborating with third-
- party administrators (TPA)
- Strong knowledge of federal and state workers; compensation laws and regulations
- Experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies and return-to-
- work programs
- Ability to analyze claims data, identify trends, and drive continuous process
- improvement
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
- environment
- Certified Worker; Compensation Professional (CWCP) and/or Associate in Risk
- Management (ARM) certification preferred
