Job Summary:

The Patient Care Specialist at Fast Pace Health provides essential administrative support to deliver effective patient care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates a high level of customer service to greet, register and discharge all patients.
  2. Cross-trains and assists with back-office duties as needed within scope of practice.
  3. Accurately collects and inputs patient demographics and financial information at the time of registration for all patients.
  4. Verifies and updates all patient insurance information at the time of registration.
  5. Maintains strong knowledge of medical insurance plans, including co-pays, deductibles and coverage limits.
  6. Stays up to date with all changes to government and commercial insurance plans.
  7. Maintains a high-level understanding and knowledge of the Fast Pace Self-Pay program.
  8. Collects all insurance, co-pays or deductibles, or self-pay amounts at the time of registration for each patient.
  9. Answers the phone with a polite, patient-centered manner demonstrating a commitment to positive patient experiences through outstanding customer service.
  10. Maintains Fast Pace customer service levels and facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patient's arrival, being aware of delays and communicating with patients and clinical staff appropriately.
  11. Retrieves, faxes or mails medical records to primary care providers as needed. Coordinates medical records process for continuation of care.
  12. Will cross-train on back-office clinical skills in order to perform in a cross-functional role as needed.
  13. Completes all mandatory compliance training and consistently follows processes and procedures to maintain compliance standards.
  14. Maintains friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees; maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that results in a positive work relationship with customers, co-workers and managers.
  15. Performs the physical, use of senses, cognitive and environmental functions of the position, as specified on the physical demands.
  16. Responsible for folding towels, cleaning tables and helping patients with exercise equipment.
  17. Welcome new employees on their first day in the clinic and facilitate introductions to team members, clinic tours and an overview of the clinic processes.
  18. Actively assists new employees with learning activities and completing required training.
  19. Supports new employee training by providing job shadowing, demonstration and coaching opportunities.
  20. Ability to comply with Company standards of operations.

  22. Promotes and maintains a respectful culture of employee, employer, patients and business confidentiality.
  23. Demonstrates proficiency with basic PC skills to include typing, utilization of a mouse and ability to use basic software such as MS Outlook and Word.
  24. Maintains the overall cleanliness of the office as needed to support the team and clinic environment.
  25. Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized.
  26. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Current CPR license*
  • 1 year of customer experience, preferably urgent care
  • Basic medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred
  • Basic use of PC to include using mouse, standard software such as MS Office to include Outlook and Word
