POSITION SUMMARY

Fenix Marine Services Senior Manager, Labor Relations serves as the Terminal Labor Relations representative. Will be responsible for the planning, oversight, and execution of Fenix Marine Services Labor Relations programs, policies, procedures and all collective bargaining agreements that fall under Fenix Marine Services. This position will be a point of contact for all terminal labor relations matters. The Labor Relations Manager will keep positive labor-management relations, ensuring compliance on all Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s), administrate grievance procedures (including arbitrations), providing direction and assisting with all other Terminal labor-related issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acts as a resource during dispute resolution; oversees management of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s) and supplements, oversees data analysis process, advises and works with Terminal Operating Group to implement overall labor policy and strategies.
  • Supports management team with contract administration / execution, dispute resolution, contract interpretation and guidance, grievance / arbitration processes and contract training.
  • Promotes a collaborative and team first work environment.
  • Represents Fenix Marine Service Ltd. on Labor Relations Committees (LRC’s).
  • Communicates current labor status to terminal management via staff meetings and written reports.
  • Documentation management and record keeping.
  • Champions safety and is actively engaged with the terminal’s Safety Program.
  • Weekend, Holiday and Night coverage as required. Coverage can include meetings, phone communication, or coming to the terminal outside of assigned work hours.

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of related union contracts with extensive experience managing labor.
  • Five (5) or more years of related experience with terminal operations, labor management and contract compliance. Ability to negotiate agreements and / or reach consensus with diverse Labor groups. Experience in drafting and writing contracts and contract language.
  • Strong communicator in group settings and one-on-one interactions with the ability to resolve conflicts and gain cooperation among competing interest groups.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances, lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items
