Job Summary
Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist I
FLSA Status: Hourly
Under the direction of the Accounting Operations Manager, the Accounts Payable Specialist I is responsible for performing accounting-related projects and responsibilities while identifying and implementing process improvements in accounting which could include the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processes and the quarter-end close process.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Processes administrative invoicing for master accounts that could be expensed to all locations and support offices
- Creates and maintain automated processes for accounting and payroll
- Performs account reconciliations for the quarter-end close process
- Assists with training and coaching accounting team
- Manages accounts payable schedule and task distribution
- Identifies and implement process improvements
- Collaborates with third party providers to create, test and implement software updates and assists with troubleshooting
- Completes other accounting-related projects and responsibilities as well as other duties as assigned
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Associate degree in accounting or finance required, Bachelor degree in accounting or finance preferred
- 1-2 years’ experience in an accounting environment
- Ability to learn new software applications
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel preferred
- Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics experience preferred
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Organizing and prioritizing skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively across the organization and our vendor community
- Ability to work with other departments within the organization to identify and implement process improvements
- Possess a high degree of confidentiality

WORK SCHEDULE
The Accounts Payable Specialist I is a full-time, hourly position. The work schedule will include mornings and afternoons. Occasional overtime may be required.
