Internship Description:
Human Resources Mission Statement: In supporting the mission, values, and ambitions of the Field Museum, we are committed to providing the highest quality Human Resources services to our customer: the Field Museum staff, volunteers, interns, the public, Board members, and vendors. The HR office is responsible for all employment issues that face our staff; recruitment, benefits management, payroll, employee relations, new staff orientation, training, volunteer and intern recruitment, and the planning and development of staff events.
The Human Resources intern will support the Volunteer and Intern Program Manager, while learning various aspects of HR coordination, including internship and volunteer program management, recruitment, hiring and onboarding, offboarding, special events planning and database management. The intern will communicate regularly with staff, interns, and volunteers from across the Museum, in addition to applicants and vendors.
Internship responsibilities include:

Assisting the HR Volunteer and Intern Program Manager with coordination of the Field Museums Spring/Summer 2024 Internship program.

Serve as a point of contact for summer interns, i.e. create and send out weekly email updates; answer intern questions; create and maintain intern website and/or Facebook page.

Assist with recruitment-related activities including posting of open positions through online application system and scheduling interviews.

Assist with hiring and onboarding of new interns, including use of Clear Company recruiting software.

Assist with offboarding of interns.

Process required paperwork and maintain database for intern and volunteer program, as needed.

Plan summer internship events and activities, including behind the scenes tours, lunches, seminars, and the annual internship breakfast.

Create end-of-the-season Intern Summary Report for the Museums executive staff.

Participate in weekly HR staff meetings, giving updates on projects and events.

Occasional front desk coverage for HR Department, as needed.
Qualifications:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Detail-oriented organizational skills.

Previous administrative/office experience is preferred.

A friendly demeanor and enthusiastic attitude; an adaptable and flexible personality.
Requirements:

Weekday hours between 9am-5pm. Final schedule TBD based on intern and program managers availability. This position is part time at 20 hours a week.

Internship Dates: May 1st August 31st, 2024.

Hourly Rate: $17- $17.50 per hour based on experience.
