Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dental & Medical Billing Specialist/Receptionist to join our team at Finch Oral & Facial Surgery. This position will be responsible for handling both administrative and billing duties within our practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an understanding of medical and dental coding, and a professional demeanor when interacting with patients and insurance companies. The role is critical to maintaining the financial health of our practice while providing excellent customer service to our patients. This position is located in the office and not available for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Coordination:
- Verify and document patient insurance benefits, eligibility, and coverage prior to appointments and surgeries.
- Communicate with insurance companies to confirm pre-authorizations and predeterminations for procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dental and medical insurance policies, codes, and procedures.
Patient Communication:
- Provide patients with clear explanations of their insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and payment options.
- Address patient billing inquiries and resolve disputes professionally and promptly.
Compliance and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate patient billing and insurance records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance coding and billing procedures (e.g., CDT, CPT, and ICD-10 codes).
Receptionist:
- Greet patients as they arrive at the office.
- Answer the phones.
- Collect co-pays and other patient payments.
- Schedule appointments.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required); certification in medical/dental billing (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental or medical billing, preferably in an oral surgery or specialty practice.
- Familiarity with dental and medical insurance plans, coding, and claims processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in practice management software and billing systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of CDT, CPT, and ICD-10 codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Bi-lingual a plus
- Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing for extended periods of up to eight hours. Additionally, the ability to sit, stand, reach, and kneel for prolonged durations is required.
