What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURGICAL SCHEDULER position at Fingerlakes Health?
Under the direction and supervision of the Surgical Services Director / Supervisor, schedules all surgeries in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner. Trains staff in scheduling process and coordinates day to day operations. Works collaboratively with the Surgical Services Business Systems Coordinator to make basic database changes and perform routine database maintenance.
- QUALIFICATIONS :
- Preferred :
- CPI within six months in the position
- Knowledge and understanding of physician ordering practices, and basic scheduling database maintenance.
- Preferred :
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Computer literacy

EDUCATION : Minimum :
High School or equivalent education.
AAS degree in Medical Assistant / Secretarial Science or experience in business with emphasis on healthcare or related field.

BLS through RQI
W ORK EXPERIENCE : Minimum :
Medical terminology knowledge or course completion.
Prior surgical services scheduling in an acute care setting.
SKILLS : Minimum :
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic scheduling system
