The Poistion Summary
The duties of the Transportation Assistant are to handle all vehicle pickups and deliveries, interact with transportation companies and vendors, ensure excellent communication among departments while maintaining a strong relationship, and ensure quality control of incoming vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Receive vehicles from transportation trucks
- Verify pick-up locations from auctions- get gate passes
- Verify that delivered vehicles are the actual purchased vehicle
- Ensure vehicles are parked correctly in designated areas and are prepared for Initial Damage Inspection
- Use the paint meter gun on every vehicle that is purchased once it arrives to check for prior paint
- Make sure vehicles have key tags and ROs made
- Update delivered vehicle status on the Transportation spreadsheet at correct intervals (Arrival, Damage Inspection, Used Car Inspection, etc.)
- Start arbitration as needed and follow up daily
- Provide correct payment to transporters when applicable
- Notify the Transportation and Inventory Team of any discrepancies beyond normal wear and tear
- Update vehicle condition report before engaging in initial damage inspection
- Annotate the mileage of delivered vehicles upon arrival and compare to the vehicle condition report
- Comply with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules and government regulations
- Maintain a daily record of vehicles scheduled for pick and delivery
- Act as a liaison between the vendor and the company
- Inspect vehicles when delivered
- Resolve vendor pickup and delivery conflicts
- Ensure accountability of processing and reconciliation of all documents
- Maintain new equipment and tools
- Recommend new inventory purchases
- Attend automotive workshops
- Stay current with new trends and developments in the automotive service industry
- Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
- Strong logistics and dispatching skills
- Proficient in analysis and communication
- Experience with transportation management systems and supply chain processes
- Competence in data entry and fleet management
- Excellent phone etiquette and typing abilities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
