Position Title : Material Handler
Areas : Novelis Oswego, NY - Operations
Reports To : Novelis Crew Leader; Novelis Operations Coordinator
Shift Time : Rotating Shifts - Schedules vary
Basic Functions :
This position performs a variety of tasks and related services at the assigned location. Performance of job duties must consistently meet or exceed the level considered acceptable by both the Temporary Labor Company, and its client, Novelis Oswego.
Basic Responsibilities :
Be able to perform basic responsibilities that include but are not limited to :
1. Reporting to work on time in a well-maintained uniform, and with all issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
2. Follow all safety policies while performing the job.
3. Identification and correction of both potential and existing deficiencies affecting safety and productivity.
4. Wearing appropriate PPE and utilizing all safety equipment.
5. Immediately reporting personal injury or client property damage to supervision.
6. Knowledge and maintenance of all OSHA standards.
7. Reading and understanding chemical labels and bulletins displayed in the workplace in order to maintain a safe environment.
8. Maintaining all assigned equipment by cleaning, organizing, and performing basic preventative maintenance.
9. Accurately utilizing timekeeping methods at the beginning and end of shift.
10. Assisting in covering staff shortages as required by supervision.
11. Portraying a courteous and professional image to clients and co-workers.
12. Compliance with all Novelis policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities :
Be able to perform all assigned tasks, which typically include but are not limited to the following :
1. Certification process for on-site forklift training.
2. Be able to perform all assignments that are requested with accuracy and efficiency.
3. Pre- and post- mobile equipment inspection. This process is verified with sign-off sheets.
4. Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damages. Report all unusual occurrences and damages.
5. Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift or other power equipment.
6. Maintain facility equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
7. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
8. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications :
G.E.D. or High School Diploma required
The desire to work in an industrial environment
Previous forklift experience preferred
