Position Overview
The Director of Purchasing will oversee and lead all procurement activities for First Priority Group across our three manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for managing the company’s purchasing operations, optimizing supply chain efficiency and ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials, components and services. The Director of Purchasing will lead a team of company Purchasers and play a critical role in maintaining seamless production processes and building strong supplier relationships to support our emergency and specialty vehicle manufacturing operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all purchasing activities and lead the team of Purchasers across all facilities.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company’s production, cost and quality objectives.
- Direct and manage purchasing processes, including sourcing, vendor selection, contract negotiation and purchase order management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure on-time delivery, quality compliance and cost savings.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure production continuity and efficiency.
- Monitor team performance and provide guidance to optimize workflow, communication and productivity.
- Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to standardize purchasing operations across all facilities.
- Collaborate with Production teams to address supplier issues and resolve quality discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience overseeing purchasing activities in a manufacturing environment; automotive or emergency vehicle experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices, contract negotiations, and vendor management.
- Proficient in ERP systems, procurement software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and mentor high-performing teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and facilities.
