Director of Finance & Accounting
The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s finance and accounting functions. This role involves managing financial records, controls, and strategies to ensure financial integrity, alignment with company goals, and effective financial planning across departments.
- This role is 70% Financial Operations and 30% Accounting
Role Overview:
- This position will oversee a Controller (with limited experience) and an Accounts Payable (AP) person and will be responsible for managing all aspects of Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
- As the lead in this area, this individual will need to take ownership of the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and clear communication with the executive leadership team.
Ideal Candidate:
- The role requires a hands-on approach, especially since the company is still in its early stages. Experience in manufacturing is a plus
- ERP implementation experience is highly desirable as the company prepares for an upcoming ERP transition.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage accounting functions, including AP, payroll, and budget planning, overseeing a Controller and AP staff member.
- Oversee accounting operations and financial control work for the company.
- Supervise capital asset projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop tracking methods for company and project revenues and expenses.
- Manage division budgeting, ensuring proper tracking and alignment with corporate goals.
- Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring financial targets and performance objectives are met.
- Serve as a financial advisor to the executive leadership team, providing strategic insights for planning.
- Prepare and present detailed financial analyses, summaries, and reports to the executive leadership team (ELT), including improving cash flow transparency.
- Ensure all financials are in full compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations.
- Provide accurate reporting on financial performance and proactively address any discrepancies.
- Lead various planning and forecasting cycles, including annual and quarterly outlooks.
- Develop and implement tools and systems for financial results reporting, focusing on detailed financial story presentation to ELT.
- Oversee ERP implementation, specifically transitioning to PLEX ERP.
- Ensure cash flow reporting and transparency are maintained, addressing current deficiencies.
- Maintain reliable attendance and adherence to company policies.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred or on the path to obtaining one.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- At least 5 years as a financial analyst or accountant with experience in managing teams.
- Knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit, tax compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Experience in fiscal management, resource management, and business needs assessment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and integrity.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Previous experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
- Must be hands-on with a demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of financial operations.
