ABOUT THE POSITION:
As a Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, packaging components, and other supplies necessary for our cosmetic manufacturing operations. This role involves collaborating with various departments to identify and address procurement needs, negotiating with suppliers, and implementing effective strategies to optimize costs and improve overall efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong background in procurement, with a focus on cost-effectiveness, quality assurance, and supplier relationship management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, evaluate, establish and build relationships with suppliers of raw materials (e.g. oils, fragrances, chemicals) and componentry )e.g., packaging, applicators, corrugate).
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining product quality.
- Evaluate new suppliers and materials that may offer better performance, cost savings, or new market appeal.
- Manage the purchasing budget and track expenditures to stay within allocated limits.
- Maintain optimal stock levels of materials and components to meet production schedules without overstocking or causing production delays.
- Implement systems to track usage and forecast material needs.
- Work closely with Quality Control and R&D to ensure materials and components meet product specifications and performance standards.
- Coordinate with logistics and production to ensure timely delivery of materials and avoid supply chain disruptions.
- Lead and mentor the purchasing team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and continuous improvement of purchasing practices.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Supply Chain Management, or related field
Experience:
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the cosmetic industry’s raw materials and packaging components.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, EU regulations).
- Proficiency in supply chain management and inventory systems.
- Analytical skills for data-driven decision-making, including cost management.
