What are the responsibilities and job description for the FSU Undergraduate Student Employment Work Study- Events/Falcon Hub Spring25 position at Fitchburg State University?
The Campus Center, housed within Hammond Hall, offers itself as a place where students can spend time socializing and expanding themselves outside the classroom. Hammond Hall houses everything from offices and services for students, to the Gallucci-Cirio Library, North Street Bistro and the Bookstore.
Event Support Services (ESS) is a group of the Campus Center Staff that offer an array of event and hospitality services for events, programs and other functions within Hammond Hall. Staff will rotate through various job assignments such as arranging room and event set-ups, providing AV and technical assistance at events, and serving beverages and maintaining security during events where alcohol is being provided.
The ESS/Falcon Hub is an area of the Campus Center and the Staff reports to the Manager of the Falcon Hub, the Manager of ESS, and the Assistant Director of Campus Center Operations.

- Assist with the operation of the Falcon Hub/Hammond Hall
- Provide friendly quality customer service to patrons
- Must keep closet spaces organized
- Must be able to work well in both an independent and team setting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Other duties as assigned
ESS Requirements:
- Be familiar with Event Management System (EMS) to check reservation setups
- Must be able to lift tables, chairs and staging of various weights
- Set meeting and event spaces based on reservation request details
- Will have knowledge of audio and visual setups to assist with event tech support
- Oversee events and assist event coordinator with their various needs
Falcon Hub Requirements:
- Will attain their TIPS certification to serve alcohol and food in the Falcon Hub
- Interact with guests ranging from fellow students to upper administration
- Must prepare and serve wine and draft or bottled beer, as well as sodas and food to patrons
- Must handle patrons courteously and, at times, assertively
- Staff is expected to maintain the acceptable standards of practice as prescribed in the TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) program as well as enforce the alcohol policies of Fitchburg State University and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Clean and maintain all bar equipment and assist with cleaning of the venue after all scheduled events
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Have good cash handling experience
Successful candidates that are 18 years of age, or older, will have, by law, 30 days to complete their TIPS certification. Those that are 21 years of age, or older, will also have 30 days to complete their Crowd Manager certification.
