Job Overview
Flagstaff Chevrolet is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Payroll/HR Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and governmental regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and the ability to analyze payroll data while maintaining confidentiality.
Duties
- Process payroll on a bi-monthly basis, ensuring all hours worked are accurately recorded.
- Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
- Maintain employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in status.
- Processes all employee insurance forms and insurance payments in coordination with office manager.
- Manage benefits administration and ensure proper deductions are made from employee paychecks.
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked; sales volume, bonuses, and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; etc., from time sheets and other records.
- Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions and/or transfer of employees between departments
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Prepare reports related to payroll, benefits, and general ledger accounting as required.
- Keep employee handbook up to date and compliant with current laws and regulations.
- Prepares/files all hiring and termination paperwork including COBRA letters.
- Maintains a professional appearance and neat work area.
- Other duties as assigned by the office manager.
Skills
- Proficient in 10 key typing for accurate data entry.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts related to payroll processing.
- An intermediate understanding of excel is necessary.
- Familiarity with general ledger accounting principles.
- Ability to analyze data effectively to identify discrepancies or issues.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes.
- Experience with Paychex or similar timekeeping software is preferred.
- Understanding of governmental accounting regulations is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact with employees across various departments.
