Title: Medical Assistant
FLSA Status : Non -Exempt
Reports To: Managing Nurse Practitioner
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost-effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This position will also be responsible for providing technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid-level practitioner.

Job Duties
- Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff.
- Prepares the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures.
- Maintains work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed.
- Assists with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting, and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician.
- Documents patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc.
- Assists and processes all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed.
- Manages flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible.

This role has no supervisory requirements.
Work Environment
This job operates in a medical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office and medical equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines, phones, copiers, infusion pumps, IVs, Etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with business needs.
Required Minimum Job Qualifications, Experience, Education, and Training
Education: Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
Preferred Education and Experience and Certifications
Experience: One or more years of experience in a physician’s office.
Certifications:
- Current medical assistant certification
- Basic Life Support/ CPR certification, required upon hire.
