Job Description Job Summary: Systems Engineering Intern position is for someone who is interested, capable and willing to spend much of their time in the S&T lab with limited supervision after training and to assist with the following types of tasks: Major Project: Upgrading & validating our EO/IR system testing and evaluation using software data collection and analysis tools (i.e., IRWIN4 & NVLabCap test & measurement software, Excel, Matlab). Perform maintenance of lab (Clean-up, reorganization, labeling, and disposal) Set-up video microscope equipment with external camera & control software Configuration of FT Spectrometer with current Windows software Integration of Gamma Scientific LED source into IRWIN4 and test procedures Lab equipment & experiment set-up (general or specific tasks) Test cart configuration update for transporting gimbal products to open area Support data collection events (indoors/outdoors) Calibration cycle assistance including equipment maintenance support New equipment research, ordering, and setup (i.e., new thermal chamber) Conduct Web searches and technical surveys Support Engineering documentation efforts (data files, reports, drawings) Other related tasks (i.e., analysis, report writing, presentations), as necessary Equipment to be Used: Windows Computers (Windows 11, Windows XP, Office 365), Teledyne FLIR products (i.e., IR sensors, LRF’s, etc.), general lab equipment (power supplies, multimeters, optomechanical staging, light sources, video recorders…), frame grabbers (analog, digital, USB), microscopes, spectrometers, EO/IR sources. Desired Qualifications: College student (any year). Interest in computers and/or engineering/science. Desire to work in a systems/optics lab environment. Good problem- solving skills. Ability to take direction and stay motivated on a task. Good oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Windows/Office 365/Matlab. Ability to organize and catalog equipment.
