Responsibilities
The incumbent in this position partners with university leadership to develop and recommend long-range goals, applying university standards in terms of deploying technology, managing technology and support operations to ensure sustainable integration of technology to meet business needs and operations along with needs of residential students; Directs the strategic planning process for future use and purchase of information technology for the university as it relates to University Housing; Oversees the use of information technology through consistent implementation and support of technology; Maintains hardware, virtual servers, virtual desktops and software programs; Engages with a variety of institution stakeholders to ensure technology investments and projects are aligned with business and teaching needs; Recommends technology investments to the Associate Director of Housing, to further strategic initiatives and drive business process efficiencies; Acts as a strategic partner to the University’s ITS Department in the planning, resourcing, and work prioritization of technology resources with a focus on driving exceptional student outcomes through effective change leadership, agile practices, and actively resolving issues, conflicts and constraints; Maintains relationships with vendor contacts, evaluates vendor offerings, and recommends solutions that maximize effectiveness while minimizing cost and risk for the college; Participates in evaluation and selection of vendor offerings, request for proposal committees, purchasing initiatives/contracts that can reduce cost, standardize licensing, or provide efficiencies across the university; Establishes performance expectations within the area and creates an environment of accountability to effectively deliver and support application infrastructure and system administration throughout the complete lifecycle of all applications; and maintain network operations of internet, servers, telephones, facility access, and third-party software.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and four years of related experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience.
Recommended Competencies
Demonstrates experience developing and maintaining short- and long-term enterprise technology infrastructure plans;
Experience managing budgets;
Experience managing and negotiating vendor contracts and agreements with service providers and regulatory agencies;
Experience developing technology strategies related to cloud services, virtualization, and network architecture;
Experience with business continuity planning and disaster recovery;
Knowledge of technology-enhanced learning principles and best practices;
Knowledge of Industry Certifications – System Administration, Networking, Technology Integration, Automation and Control, System Design, Project Management;
Ability to use good judgment in interpreting and adapting policies, precedents and work directions for appropriateness to specific tasks or problems.
Ability to manage at least one (1) professional, who completes and supports a variety of technology operations;
Ability to utilize strong oral and written communications skills to share critical information and concepts with a wide variety of audiences;
Works effectively with stakeholder groups to understand their needs and utilize judgement on how to build relationships;
Knowledge of who needs to be involved in complex projects and how to foster engagement during project inception, planning, development, implementation and close out;
Ability to identify future innovation opportunities that relate to higher education and the delivery of instruction;
Ability to determine the most appropriate strategy to leverage technology using available resources; and,
Ability to develop long-term strategies and goals for the department.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with ten years of appropriate experience; or master’s degree with six years of experience;
Five or more years of experience in managing/leading technology teams supporting multi-tier application and infrastructure platforms;
Vendor management experience;
Cloud environment knowledge and experience; and
Knowledge of application programming development functions.

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
