Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University’s Department of Research is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for Four (4) Coordinator, Research Program/Services vacancies. All positions will report to the Pre- Award Associate Director (AD) for Sponsored Programs.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for coordination of sponsored research activities from public and/or private sources. The position will advise and assist faculty and staff in all areas of pre-award and administrative activities. Activities associated with this position include, but are not limited to: identification of funding opportunities; preparation, review, negotiation, tracking and administration of proposals, and subcontracts proposal submission for sponsored research, instruction, and public service activities; coordination of compliance issues; analysis of internal and external regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines with subsequent recommendations to Pre-Award Associate Director and Director regarding methodology to achieve compliance or bring exceptions to the same, if applicable; preparation of official communications; and preparation of materials for publications as applicable.

The position will provide training sessions/workshops and will assist the Pre-Award Associate Director and Director with special projects as assigned. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting PI's/Colleges/Schools with proposal/subcontract preparation, review, negotiation, tracking, submission, and administration for sponsored research, instruction, and public service activities from public and/or private sources. During the proposal/subcontract process and development, the Sponsored Research Coordinator (SRC) is responsible for project file set-up and serves as the primary Sponsored Programs Services liaison with funding/sponsoring agencies. During the proposal/subcontract process, the SRC must maintain regular contact with principal investigators, deans, chairs, departmental administrators, and funding agency officials regarding interpretation, application, and development of contract and grant documents, and interpretation of policies, and procedures relative thereto. The SRC negotiates all types of contracts, possesses an extensive working knowledge of regulations appropriate to assigned sponsors, and handles pre-award activities to ensure compliance.

Reviews and approves budgets for, subawards, consultants, stipends, student awards, employment, and budgetary requests based on allowability, allocation and reasonableness of associated costs for proposal submission compliance. Work with PI and department to address all budgetary issues. Work with the PI, department and associated central offices for final proposal submission. Coordination of compliance issues and analysis of internal and external regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines with subsequent recommendations to Pre-Award Associate Director and Director concerning development, revision, methodology, and/or interpretation of all sponsored research activities to achieve compliance or bring exceptions to the same. This includes reviewing proposal guidelines and award terms and conditions to ensure compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.

Recommended Competencies

Advance knowledge of the creative process and production of concepts using applicable computer software and proficient computer functions related to digital media;

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations;

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;

Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously; and

Ability to utilize problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred two years of experience in contract management, grants administration, financial analysis, and budget development;

Experience with computer technology and software, ability to analyze data, generate a grant budget;

Knowledge and experience in Sponsored Research administrations under Federal and State regulations;

Knowledge of Higher Education Cost Principles (Uniform Grants Guidance (UGG) and Good communication and organizational skills; and

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ImageNow.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment
