About the Role:
As a Program Director of Respiratory Therapy, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the respiratory therapy program. Your main objective will be to ensure the program's success by developing and implementing curriculum, managing faculty and staff, and maintaining accreditation standards. This position is responsible for the coordination, planning, presentation, and evaluation of the Respiratory Therapy program. The program director/faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Florida National University Campus or outreach center as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include administration of the Respiratory Therapy program, instruction; instructional counseling; serving on various committees; coordinating and/or participating in school based community events and service-learning activities and participating in local, state, regional, or national professional activities and organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution or university
- Current and active licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in respiratory therapy education or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, practices, and industry trends.
- Experience in curriculum development and program management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a leadership or administrative role within an educational institution.
- Experience with the CoARC Accreditation process.
- Documents a minimum of two years’ experience as an instructor in a NBRC-accredited program.
- Strong network and connections within the respiratory therapy industry.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for the respiratory therapy program, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Manage and supervise faculty and staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective program delivery and student success.
- Teaches respiratory therapy courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
- Evaluation and advisement of students in a didactic/clinical setting
- Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues
- Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area
- Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
- Collaborate with industry professionals and healthcare organizations to stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in respiratory therapy.
- Maintain program accreditation by conducting regular assessments, evaluations, and reporting to accrediting bodies.
- Provide leadership and support to students, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting their professional growth and development.
- Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares/plans budget requests
- Attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences
- Position may require committee and project assignments or other duties as assigned as well as day/evening/distance learning classes and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensure they are in compliance with Title IX of Education Amendments Act of 1972.
- Support and participate in University Commencement Ceremonies.
- Participate in the new students’ orientation.
- Participate in the self-studies and committees conducted by the University.
