Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Summary:
The Distribution Center Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating the flow of products and materials in and out of the warehouse. This role involves overseeing the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of products, ensuring that all operations are conducted efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping:
Prepare documentation and process shipments for delivery.
Ensure accurate labeling and documentation for all outgoing shipments.
Coordinate with carriers for pickup schedules and delivery requirements.
Inspect outgoing shipments for completeness and condition.
Ensure all shipment documentation is uploaded in company warehouse management system at time of shipping.
Receiving:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders through company warehouse management system.
Document and record any discrepancies or damages.
Update inventory records accurately and promptly.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory levels through shipment audits.
Reconcile discrepancies and report findings to the supervisor.
Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories as required.
Ensure proper storage and handling of products to prevent damage or loss.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of all shipping and receiving transactions.
Assist in generating reports on inventory levels, shipments, and receiving activities.
Utilize warehouse management software to track and assist in managing inventory.
Ensure proper filing and storage of shipping and receiving documents.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Comply with company policies and regulatory requirements related to shipping and receiving.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments, such as logistics, inventory control, and customer service, to resolve issues and streamline processes.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external contacts.
Provide Support To Other Warehouse Functions As Needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft office, warehouse management systems and software.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
May require working evenings, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.
