Job Summary:
The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, month-end close, and the preparation of financial reporting packages. This role also includes handling ad hoc analysis assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable:
- Process customer payments. Review customer discount deductions for accuracy.
- Oversee accounts receivable aging, and address past due accounts.
- Manage and resolve any issues related to customer billing and payment discrepancies.
Accounts Payable:
- Supervise the processing of supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Review accounts payable transactions and adjustments.
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve any issues related to supplier billing and payment discrepancies.
General Accounting:
- Oversee daily accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Calculation of accruals and other accounting entries.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Month-End Close:
- Key participant in the month-end close process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy.
- Key participant in preparing and presenting monthly financial reporting packages to management.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements and audit schedules.
- Prepare tax schedules for US and Canadian sales tax and VAT.
Ad Hoc Analysis:
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support management with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience optimizing accounting through automation or just general efficiency improvements a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
