Job Summary:
Responsible for bridging the gap between IS and the business by reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating user needs to create systems solutions that support overall business strategies. Document system requirements, define scope and objectives, and create system specifications that drive system development and implementation.
Performs application development and maintenance for new and existing systems that deliver information essential for management decision support and daily operations. Responsible for designing, coding, and testing more complex computer programs and/or systems on a regular basis in accordance with established standards.
Essential Functions:
· Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies by evaluating business processes,
anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions. Conduct meetings
and presentations to share ideas and findings.
· Plan and manage projects by prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements, allocating resources and
maintaining cost efficiency, developing project plans, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of projects.
· Manage competing resources and priorities by working closely with clients, technicians, and managerial staff in gathering
critical information from various stakeholders.
· Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements by performing requirements analysis and document and communicate
the results of the efforts.
· Confer with manager, supervisor, or department representatives to resolve questions of program intent, data input, and output
requirements.
· Keep management and stakeholders informed of project status through periodic status reporting.
· Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
· Develop and implement moderately complex programs and/or systems to meet specifications. Works on multiple programs and
projects simultaneously.
· Correct program errors using various methods as appropriate, e.g. creating special purpose function modules, altering sequence
of program steps, combining different languages, etc. Analyze, review, and rewrite programs to increase operating efficiency or
to adapt programs to new requirements.
· Develop and execute program unit testing.
· Provide end-user support to resolve program problems or aid in the understanding of the information available.
· Update, implement, and maintain standards, procedures, and security.
· Keep abreast of technological developments as they relate to programming and design and the latest process and IS
advancements to automate and modernize systems.
Requirements
Qualifications:
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is desirable but not required.
· Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) is desirable but not required.
· 4-10 years of experience in the field or related area.
· Ability with relational databases including SQL Server.
· Knowledge of object-oriented programming, client-server concepts and developing software based on requirement
specifications. This may include Visual Basic, ASP, Python, and Java.
· Ability to write and interpret well-structured source programs.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
· Ability to adapt to an evolving enterprise system architecture.
· Ability to learn and adopt new concepts and technologies.
· Excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
· Office environment – temperature controlled. May be required to work in plant areas (not temperature controlled).
· Extended periods of sitting, occasional standing and walking.
· Lifting/moving objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
· Regular use of hands and fingers to type on keyboard, operate computer mouse, use of telephone and various office equipment.
· Extended periods of viewing computer monitor.
· Noise level in work environment: low to moderate.
Travel Requirements:
· Minimal travel as needed to attend business meetings/trainings.
