Assistant Store Manager

Food Giant Supermarkets, Inc., owns and operates a chain of grocery stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. It offers meat products, fresh fruits and vegetables, and bakery products; and deli products, cheeses, and other goodies.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the management of all employees in the effective planning and implementation of all store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. Must be willing to move within Western Kentucky.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds

Achieve desired gross profit

Achieve desired level of productivity

Project sales, product movement and labor needs

Manage and motivate staff

Recruit, train and develop staff

Establish daily work assignments and priorities for store employees

Receive and unload truck deliveries

Order merchandise and supplies

Manage customer service issues

Perform basic housekeeping

Work well with others

Speak fluent English

Follow written and oral instructions

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent walking and standing.

Frequent bending, stooping and kneeling to run check out station, stock merchandise and unload trucks.

Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as hand-held scanner, pricing guns, box cutters, two-wheel dollies, and U-boats (six-wheel carts).

Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.

Occasional climbing (using ladder).

Occasional driving/providing own transportation to attend management meetings

Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions'
