What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Coordinator position at Forest County Potawatomi Community?
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of wellness programs, including fitness classes, nutrition workshops, mental health support groups, and stress reduction seminars.
- Ensure wellness programs cater to diverse community needs, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with local health professionals and divisions to provide educational resources and services.
- Educate community members on topics related to physical fitness, healthy eating, mental well-being, and overall wellness.
- Provide individual counseling and guidance to participants on how to improve their health and wellness.
- Organize events, workshops, and seminars to raise awareness about health-related topics.
- Build strong relationships with community members to encourage participation in wellness programs.
- Actively promote wellness programs and services through social media, flyers, newsletters, and word-of-mouth.
- Offer personalized support to members, helping them set and achieve their wellness goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs, adjusting as needed based on feedback and participation data.
- Track attendance, engagement, and progress of program participants.
- Provide regular reports to the management team regarding program outcomes, challenges, and opportunities.
- Work closely with other community center staff, local organizations, and wellness professionals to enhance program offerings.
- Build partnerships with health and fitness businesses to offer additional resources and discounts to participants.
- Manage program scheduling, registration, and facility usage for wellness-related activities.
- Maintain records and documentation for program participants, tracking health assessments and progress.
- Assist with budgeting and resource allocation for wellness programs and events.
- Occasionally cover the fitness floor.
- Occasional fitness floor supervision & rock wall belaying for events
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
- 18 years of age
- Certification in fitness training, wellness coaching, or a related area.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in wellness program coordination, community health, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of wellness trends, fitness techniques, and mental health resources.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse community members, have enthusiasm, and creativity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other basic office software
- Instruct physical activities and lift equipment for classes such as fitness sessions or group walks.
- Current industry recognized group exercise certification in any of the following: ACE-American Council of Exercise, AFAA- Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, ACSM-American College of Sports Medicine, NETA-National Exercise Trainers Association, or other specialty certification) – must obtain with 60 days of hire.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification; if not current, will need to obtain prior to hire
- Knowledge in rock climbing, knot tying, and belaying over 200 pounds is necessary to help administer at team building occasions or community center events. Can obtain onsite within 30 days of hire.
- May require occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate program schedules and events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Wellness, Exercise Science, Nutrition, Public Health, or related field
