We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team to play a key role in general ledger-focused accounting while supporting multiple entities, including Forest Highlands, FH Water Company, FH Wastewater Company, and FH Foundation. This position also provides cross-training in both Controller and AP/AR responsibilities to ensure continuity within the department and to support long-term career development.

What You’ll Do
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth accounting operations across multiple entities.
- General Ledger & Month-End Close – Record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain financial accuracy. Interacts with all levels of management and members.
- Multi-Entity Accounting – Support accounting for Forest Highlands, FH Water, FH Wastewater, and FH Foundation, including reconciling shared costs and processing fund transfers.
- Cross-Training in Key Accounting Roles – Learn Controller responsibilities to provide coverage when needed and support AP/AR as necessary.
- Tax Filings & Compliance – Assist with monthly sales, liquor, and use tax filings.
- Financial Support & Auditing – Work with external auditors and ensure adherence to accounting policies.

Requirements
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a strong general ledger accountant with a passion for accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred).
- 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience (must understand debits, credits, and reconciliations).
- Experience in HOA, hospitality, club, or property management accounting is a plus.
- Familiarity with Jonas Encore or similar accounting software is helpful but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- This role is onsite at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona.
- Flexibility is key- the workload varies seasonally (heavier in summer, lighter in the off-season).
- Position is in an open office environment in a golf/country club in a private residential community.
- Must be able to work in a busy office environment with multiple co-workers in an open office space.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs regularly; up to 50lbs occasionally and to lift overhead and push/pull.
- Must be able to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop kneel, crouch, adjust vision accordingly (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception)
- Exposed to outside weather conditions including low temperatures.
- Continuous ability to talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
