What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Infrastructure Specialist position at Forney ISD?
Primary Purpose
- Provide Tier 1 and 2 support for IT infrastructure hardware and applications across all Forney ISD campuses
Education / Certification:
- High School Diploma
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field of study (Preferred)
- A Certification (Preferred)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Must have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and problem solve reported computer and application errors
- Knowledge of a variety of Operating Systems (i.e Windows, Chrome OS, macOS, iOS, Android)
- Working knowledge of computer hardware components
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks and subnets
- Working knowledge of IP Cameras and NVR software (Avigilon Control Center preferred)
- Working knowledge of Facility Access Control hardware and software (Avigilon Unity Access preferred)
- Working knowledge of Motorola LMR hardware and programming
- Maintains a positive attitude and works effectively with others
Experience:
- Educational technology experience in a K-12 public school system preferred
Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain the operation of district IT infrastructure hardware and software, including IP Cameras, facility access control, switches, wireless access points, servers, and all related management software
- Perform regular corrective and preventative maintenance for all relevant systems
- Perform proactive system and hardware updates of all relevant systems
- Provision and manage end-user access to systems in-line with district procedures and regulations
- Provide technical assistance to faculty and staff for all supported systems
- Research reported technical incidents to identify trends, symptoms, and root cause problems
- Effectively respond to and resolve IT support requests submitted through our department ticketing system
- Provide support and training to other IT Staff members as an escalation point for support requests
- Create, update, and maintain department documentation
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of staff and student information
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy
- Demonstrate professional, ethical and responsible behavior.

Environment / Working Conditions:
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- District wide and occasional statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
