POSITION SUMMARY:
Foundations is seeking experienced Principals and Assistant Principals to work in local schools and districts on a per diem basis to fill short and long term vacancies. The Interim Principal/Assistant Principal provides guidance and support to the daily operational management of the school, and assists the CEO and Board of Trustees in fulfilling its responsibilities.
- POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Interim Principal is responsible for obtaining high levels of student achievement and learning by ensuring the following:
- A shared vision of skillful instruction among all staff
- All teachers are highly qualified/certified
- On-going improvement of teaching for all staff through a variety of strategies, including:
- Lesson observations
- Regular use of data
- Collaborative planning
- Regular professional development
- Informal support strategies, including coaching and mentoring
- Use of formative assessment data to guide learning support and drive instruction, curriculum, and professional development
- A program of responsive support for students who are below expected levels
- Strong and responsive special education programming to ensure success in school for students with special needs, including compliance with special education laws
- Attendance and participation in monthly Board of Trustee meetings
- Other duties as assigned
The Interim Assistant Principal is responsible for obtaining high levels of student achievement and learning by ensuring the following:
- Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
- Assist and advise teachers in instructional methodology and organizing classrooms for effective learning.
- Communicate regularly with the Principal, concerning all activities, programs, and/or needs of the school.
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students.
- Maintain active, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in education or related area
- Pennsylvania Principal certification or immediately eligible
- 3-5 years of school leadership experience, charter school experience preferred
- Demonstrated success in leading a school in an urban environment
- Experience in using data to drive instruction and to inform decision making
- Superior relationship management skills, including external and internal stakeholders/clients
- Passion for education reform and a commitment to serving children in Pennsylvania’s under served communities
